Aunque no hab\u00eda recibido \u00f3rdenes en  ese sentido, el Teniente Guillermo Owen Crippa pic\u00f3 inmediatamente sobre  el Argonaut y le caus\u00f3 da\u00f1os superficiales con fuego de ca\u00f1\u00f3n y  cohetes. Por su bravura al desafiar en solitario a una considerable  parte de la Task Force, el piloto ser\u00eda condecorado con la m\u00e1s alta  distinci\u00f3n argentina al valor en combate. <br>  <br>La Fuerza A\u00e9rea Argentina esperaba desbordar las defensas de la Task  Force con ataques coordinados. El primero fue realizado por seis Skyhawk  del Grupo de Caza 5 que partieron desde R\u00edo Gallegos, cada uno con una  sola bomba de 454 Kg., y ocho IAI Dagger del Grupo de Caza 6 con asiento  en San Juli\u00e1n y R\u00edo Grande. Los Dagger llevaban dos bombas de 227 Kg.  cada una. Despegaron entre las 09,00 y las 90,30. Los Pucar\u00e1 a\u00fan no  hab\u00edan confirmado el desembarco ingl\u00e9s a la hora del despegue.<br> Los Dagger llegaron a la zona de San Carlos entre las 10,25, y los Skyhawk a las 10,30. Ambos grupos <br> En  vuelo rasante los Dagger se abalanzaron sobre las fragatas, una de las  cuales consigui\u00f3 alcanzar a los Dagger con un SAM.El buque m\u00e1s  seriamente da\u00f1ado fue el destructor Antrim, que se hab\u00eda reunido con el  grupo principal de la flota inglesa, despu\u00e9s de bombardear Fanning Head  durante toda la noche. El Antrim recibi\u00f3 una bomba en los ba\u00f1os que no  explot\u00f3,.El Argonaut aguant\u00f3 el ataque en pleno de los Skyhawk y qued\u00f3  parcialmente averiado por dos impactos de bombas que tampoco hicieron  explosi\u00f3n.
